Sportswear fashion is key trend this summer

The favorite wardrobe collection worldwide in bright sunny days of this summer is sportswear fashion and several global apparel retailers are focusing on the segment. While Splash, the Dubai-based retailer, has introduced sports chic-a merger of fashion and sportwear, in their summer trends, the Spanish apparel brand Desigual is stitching plans to enter the segment by unveiling new sportswear collection.    

Speaking to fibre2fashion, CEO of Splash, Mr. Raza Beig said, “60's and Sports Chic are the key overriding trends for this summer. 60's has a mod look with monochrome being the strongest in bold stripes, hounds tooth or cheeks, whereas sports chic has a very hip-hop edge to it.”
 
“For men, specifically, camouflage is the biggest trend, while chic Gatsby looks also find flavor this season,” he informs.
 
With the changing trend this summer and the increasing demand for sportswear, several apparel brands are focusing on sportswear segment.
 
For example, Spanish apparel brand Desigual has announced plans to enter the sportswear segment by unveiling their new sportswear collection.
 
Mr. Manel Jadraque, CEO of Desigual, said at a recent press conference, “We are planning to launch a new sportswear collection ‘Desigual Sport’ by the end of May or by the beginning of June.”
 
“The new sportswear collection is made of specialized clothing and technical materials and initially we are planning to launch womenswear range,” he said.
 
In 2012, the global sportswear market grew by more than 7.5 percent and exceeded US$ 244 billion, according to Euromonitor International. Valued at an estimated US$ 80 billion, the US market for sportswear is the largest worldwide, over three times higher in value than China, the second largest sportswear market.
 
The four largest markets for sportswear line – the US, China, Japan and Brazil – together accounted for over half of total sportswear sales, in value terms, in 2012.
