Spanish group CECOTEX keen to promote fashion industry

The Spanish Confederation of Trade Textile and Fashion (CECOTEX), founded by organizations including the Spanish Business Association for Textile Trades and Complements (ACOTEX), is keen to promote interested companies in the Spanish fashion business.

CECOTEX is currently in talks with the Spanish Ministry of Industry to join the Bureau of Spanish Fashion (la Mesa de la Moda Española), which consists of representatives from the Ministries of Industry and Culture of Spain along with company owners and designers of the Spanish fashion industry.

CECOTEX was established earlier this year to solely handle fashion related matters in Spain as the country did not have any association to defend the interests of companies in the fashion business.

Before CECOTEX, the only national-level association related to Spanish fashion industry was the Intertextil Spanish Council (CIE), which only focused on the manufacturing industry and the retail exports of Spain.

The main objective of the CECOTEX is to unite and protect the interests of the textile and fashion at national level in Spain, said Borja Oria Riu, the chairman of ACOTEX, who is appointed as the chairman of CECOTEX as well, according to a modaes.es report.

CECOTEX aims to promote public and private firms and agencies in all matters related to the textile and fashion; support internationalization of Spanish companies, promote new technologies through sales and communication; encourage shopping tourism in Spain and help to reinvent multi-trade model in the Spanish fashion industry.

It also aims to organize fashion industry forums for the purpose of business model innovation and other areas of the fashion sector in Spain.

The founding organizations of CECOTEX are the ACOTEX, the Commerce Guild of Valencia and Province Textiles (GREGOTEX), the Confederation of Textile Industries in Galicia (COINTEGA), and the Fashion Textile Cluster of Catalonia (ACTM).
