Batik Keris marks 93rd anniversary with batik carnival

To celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the famous Indonesian batik maker and retailer Batik Keris, an exquisite culture-cum-fashion show was organized at the Diamond Convention Center in the city of Surakarta, Central Java.

Titled as Solo Batik Carnival, the event featured outfits inspired from the different art, dance and cultures of Javanese, Betawi, Balinese, Papuan, European and Eurasian people.

The carnival showcased traditional long-sleeved shirts, knee-length velvet pants, sleeveless velvet blouses and modest formal attires in colours like green, purple and dark blue.

In addition to traditional and formal ensembles, the event also presented a casual collection, which included simple cut blouses and shirts with modern motifs paired with jeans and shorts, for teenagers.

Additionally, an exclusive dance-meets-catwalk performance themed ‘Puspa Nusa’ was also staged as part of the carnival. The show presented a mix of both models and dancers swaying to lively music wearing tasseled pageant outfits and dresses with flowery motifs.

Established in 1947, Batik Keris is one of the largest Indonesian Batik manufacturers, which operates several stores across the country.
