Project team leader Melinda Parker, a Product Development student on the Los Angeles campus who currently works at Topshop, led the group, provided feedback to her teammates, and addressed any questions they had. “The Topshop manager gave us a tour and talked about the background of the company,” she explained. “We also did a store visit to research trends and get more familiar with the brand.”
FIDM has a long history of industry partnerships in and out of the classroom. Third-year International Manufacturing & Product Development students recently worked with bebe to create the pieces in their Graduate Thesis collection. Other companies, including Lacoste, Cotton Inc., Signal Snowboards, Karen Kane, and Murad have worked closely with FIDM students.
“I think the best part of the project was the end result,” Melinda added. “It was awesome seeing everything come together and look so good with the amazing prints the textile designers created.”
