Featuring prints, photographs, drawings, garments and accessories, as well as video and audio, the show displays the culmination of many years of hard work and creative endeavour.
Man Yim, BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Technology: Womenswear, reflected on her work for the exhibition:
“It was really exciting to put together a video featuring my designs and I really enjoyed the collaborative process. I selected people to work with who I felt would add to my vision. It was a big rush in the end but it was exciting.”
Man Yim’s garments, which celebrate and tell the traditions of two frequently excluded ethnic groups, the Hmong people of Asia and the Romani, feature transfer prints on sequins, embroidery and foil detailing.
Man Yim said:
“It was interesting to work with lots of different details and focus on creating different textures within each garment. I wanted to stand up for these two ethnic groups and to celebrate their clothing traditions.”
Exploring many aspects of fashion design, photography, illustration and styling, the exhibition captures the creativity of London’s international fashion scene and promises exciting things for the future of fashion.
