New Gucci kids line with stylish seventies touch

The Gucci Children’s Collection for next Spring/Summer 2014 takes inspiration from the lightheartedness of the last days of school and the forthcoming seaside holidays.

Creative Director Frida Giannini presents a versatile, refined wardrobe characterized by lightness and color – providing a fresh, unexpected take on the House’s sartorial spirit and infusing the collection with a stylish Seventies touch in the form of vibrant accents and fashionable prints.

The color palette revolves around classic tones of white, beige, navy blue and different shades of sky blue, combined with more quirky, vibrant hues, including ochre, bright orange, anthurium red and gentian blue, which saturate knitwear for a bold and confident look.

Mixed with pure cotton fabrics, natural linen brings an extremely soft feel to the summery outfits: travel blazers worn over chino pants in washed blends, while the aviator bomber jacket  meets loose-fitting cargo pants in a fluid, washed cotton fabric that reinvents the traditional silhouette for a safari style.

Prints and graphics also play a key role in the season’s new look.  Micro and macro paisley motifs, used on clothes or beachwear garments, alternate with a new theme inspired by Gucci’s equestrian heritage: the image of a stylized horse, designed to resemble skilful brush strokes, appears as embroidery on the nappa leather bomber or as a print on t-shirts. This little gentleman completes his look with signature horsebit loafers.

Warm and vivid colors including bright orange, bougainvillea, tropical turquoise and yellow compose the young ladies’ color palette. The designs feature lurex fabrics for an elegant attitude, laminated leather for a reflective look, and precious embroideries for studded effects.

The Seventies-inspired paisley motif comes to life in bright hues, such as aquamarine, for either prints or embroideries. Meanwhile, the season’s relaxed and joyful spirit reaches new heights with all-over patterns: cascading heartbeats, beach prints recreating small parasols and multicolored balloons across jackets, dresses, tops and shorts, perfect for an elegant get-together or a carefree seaside stroll. The mini Soho bag with the embossed interlocking GG emblem, is this season’s irresistible accessory.

Complementing the collection is the Baby Line, from 0 to 36 months, distinguished by bright colors and fanciful prints, such as the Gucci Teddy Bear – featured in fun variants – and the all-over heartbeat motif for newborn girls.

Fabrics are comfortable and ultra soft, from yarn-dyed jersey sweatshirts and multicolored knitwear for him to tinted denim and nylon fabrics for her. Uniquely handsome looks include the boy’s polka dot jacquard evening tuxedo and the girl’s silk garments alternated with total white looks in a linen blend and embellished with satin ribbons.

Finally, the Layette proposal presents gift sets and the nursery line, personalized with a special “origami” print, where small paper animals are shown playing with Gucci’s iconic web stripe in an imaginative world of shapes and colors.
