Yun Jeong Yang, LCF alumna MA Fashion Design and Technology Menswear, also made it to the top ten in the competition.
The Designer for Tomorrow competition provides a platform for creativity by promoting and supporting the fashion innovators of the future. Run by Peek & Cloppenburg Duesseldorf and Fashion ID, the finalists were selected by leading designer, Stella McCartney, out of 350 applications which came in from across Europe.
As a finalist, Ioana will show her collection at Berlin Fashion Week in July. The young designer now has the chance to win a sponsorship programme with professional mentoring.
Ioana’s designs deal with the concept of paradox, exploring the duality of human nature. Ioana said:
“Like myself, I am both shy and exuberant, feminine and boyish. I am both creative and down-to-earth: that’s why I think I should win Designer for Tomorrow.”
The winner will be chosen at the show at the Mercededez Benz Fashion Week in Berlin which runs from the 2nd – 7th of July.
