For resort 2014, McQ offers a collection of separates with a rebellious attitude. Adaptable and keeping an everyday ease, they fit perfectly into the modern, urban wardrobe. The McQ signature sweatshirt, jean, leather trouser, tailored jacket, bomber jacket and jean return in new guises.

COLLECTION

The mini cross jacquard series draws inspiration from the refined menswear of the ‘20s and ‘30s, re-imagined for a modern woman. Evening dresses are asymmetric and draped, decorated with tassels inspired by cravats and silk scarves.

Dresses and tops come with D-rings and straps adding a bondage feel . A jacket and coat both feature scarf detailing. Tailoring is masculine, evoking silk dressing gowns.

The mini cross print is also translated into modern separates, including an over-sized short sleeved sweatshirt, bomber jacket and printed jeans. Colours are rich and autumnal, inspired by the luxe tones worn by gentlemen of the period.

The caged arrow series features a tough, graphic print and a straighter, looser silhouette. Bondage trousers, a mini dress and a lightweight jacket feature D-rings and straps, these straps also feature on a metallic knit story.

The monochrome series features over-sized arrows on knitwear and re-engineered tailoring. A tuxedo is deconstructed and reappears as a dress, twisted to appear draped when fastened, as does a tailored jacket inspired by a piece from the McQueen archive. Individual pieces are fused together to create one garment.

The essential McQ sweatshirt comes in various new guises, including an embellished style featuring metal swallow plaques. A cracked metallic paint effect features on a logo sweatshirt and jean in copper, silver and ice blue. The bomber jacket is realised in tough leather and a lighter-weight printed silk.

PRINTS

Mini cross, caged arrow, kaleidoscope rose, kaleidoscope houndstooth, kaleidoscope bird swarm, cracked denim.

SILHOUETTE

Strong shoulders and nipped-in waists for the mini cross jacquard series. Looser and straighter throughout the rest of the collection.

ACCESSORIES

A bubblegum pink cross-body bag is toughened up with black hardware. The mini ‘edge’ group in leather features a gold chain strap and ornate metalwork corners also in gold. A leather tote bag with strap features mini cross design in perforations.

FOOTWEAR

Footwear is tough with masculine detailing. A cut-out leather boot and flat feature a cracked paint effect on the heal in pale pink and black. A black asymmetric wrapped peep-toe boot has a sharp stiletto heel. Heel caps come in ornate metalwork to partner with the ‘edge’ bag story.
