A host of well-known brands including Armani, Z Zegna, Gucci, and Versace showcased at the Milan Men’s Fashion Week (FW) featuring the spring/summer collection for 2014 that concluded last week.

Taking a turn from his usual style of traditional tailored jackets, Giorgio Armani presented a collection featuring semi-formal outfits like double-breasted cardigan jackets in refreshing colors in the tie-dye shades of bright navy and blush pink or peach. The pants pattern also changed to a leaner look combining classic tailoring with zippers and high-tech fabrics. The effort was to give apparels a textured look with use of wool and leather to make them appear as woven.

High-tech sport’s gear was the theme for Gucci’s forthcoming spring/summer. The brand’s collection included waterproof macintoshes, stretch leggings, nylon t-shirts and jackets with mesh panels, zips and bonded finishes made using tricksy material to give them a more ‘techy’ look.

Other apparels like billowing silk shirts to buttock-cleaving skin-tight riding trousers also formed a part of the designer label’s display at the show.

Versace’s collection included more of sportswear collection like T-shirts, jackets, pants and shorts for sport needs.

Making his debut for Ermenegildo Zegna, designer Stefano Pilati presented a collection of long and lean suits, jackets embedding elements of Norfolk and safari jackets with a high button stance and lapels between notch and peak. The slim pants to match with these suits were mostly made of same material as suits, but in jacquard patterns featuring hues of earthy shades, sage, powder blue and Bordeaux.

Designer Paul Surridge’s collection under ZZegna label was more about giving an urban touch to the sartorial style of holding firm Ermenegildo Zegna.

Fashion house Frankie Morello featured brightly colored blazers with tracksuit trousers and sweaters with pictures of hamburgers and sushi.
