Fashion sector awaits “Who is on Next?” scouting project

Conceived and organized with Altaroma in collaboration with Vogue Italia, the 9th edition of the “Who is on Next?” scouting project is one of the most eagerly awaited moments by international industry members in search of new talents.

Recognized as one of the most important creative platforms worldwide, it offers emerging fashion designers a one-of-a-kind chance to have their work and skills assessed by a prestigious jury of industry members.

“Who is on Next?” has contributed to confirming Rome as a pivotal force of scouting on an international level highlighting the significant growth of the city .A perfect setting for young, fresh innovative creativity but also the revival of artisan skills.

Not only is Rome once again confirmed as a launch pad, but also as an incubator for new talents. In fact, two finalists actually come from the area, thereby joining the 16 finalists of past editions.

This year, the work of twelve designers will be subjected to the scrutiny of a prestigious panel of judges enriched by new important international members.

Two categories, i.e. clothing and accessories. In fact, for the first time ever, the latter will also include hats and jewellery, thus adding a unique touch and embellishing the creative presentation of this ninth edition even further.

The designers will put their creativity to the test by also accepting the challenge of working with the innovative materials provided by Alcantara S.p.A., once again a partner of the project.

All twelve finalists will create either a garment or an accessory in Alcantara thereby interpreting the versatility of the material. The latter is enriched season after season by increasingly sophisticated and improved working techniques: folds, laminations, laser cuts, finishes and ultra-refined, statement making prints.

This year Altaroma once again confirms its partnership with yoox.com. The number one virtual, multi-brand fashion, art and design store in the world will offer the winning designer special exposure, by supporting him or her in the development of his/her brand.

The winner will create an exclusive look for yoox.com, which will be available online at the same time as the event scheduled be held during Milan’s fashion week in September. As is customary each year, Vogue Italia will offer the winners a photographic feature shot by a famous photographer.

An eagerly awaited appointment on the international fashion scene thus serving as proof that Italian creativity and production, when provided with the necessary support, continue to represent an important reference point throughout the world. The search for the young talent most likely to succeed in 2013 continues….
