Altaroma brings African fashion to Rome

In this new SS 2014 collection, Stella Jean unveils an aesthetic into which flows the stories of distant traditions which use fashion as their universal translator. It is a visionary exchange of views that convince us not to trust appearances alone.

Sabine Portenier and Evelyne Roth are two Suisse designers, who launched their label in 2007. Their concept of designing is unique in that they do not have seasonal collections, but they create a collection for each year with different emphasis on each season, which can also be combined with each other.

The new collection “Croisière 14” is based on the collaboration with the Ethical Fashion Project and their textiles from Burkina Faso. The hand-made textiles are combined with contrasting materials such as high quality silk chiffon, satin, leather and knitted material.

Kiki Clothing

Kiki Clothing is a Ghanaian based childrenswear and womensear brand founded by Titi Ademola, a Ghanaian/Nigerian fashion designer. Her Collections encompass vital colours, African prints and smart casual styles.

The ideas for her collection result from different cultures, but primarily from her Ghanaian/Nigerian heritage, and images from everyday life.I

n the new Spring/ Summer 2014 collection the inspiration come from a fresh and exciting way to put colours and fabrics. The materials are Ankara or Wax printed fabrics but with a slight twist; incorporating a little shinny, gold splash as well.

Christie Brown

Christie Brown is a luxury womenswear brand based in Ghana. It was founded by Aisha Obuobi in 2008. By using modern styles and African prints for her collections, Aisha Obuobi aims to satisfy the stylish urge of "that modern woman who seeks a true taste of Africa".

In the new collection; strategically constructed geometric shapes create visual dimension and contrast. The styles and silhouettes are inspired by the 1960’ mod era and the tribal infused fabrics handcrafted by local artisans and are mixed with lush silks chiffon, linens, silk organzas and satin crepes.
