After months of negotiations, NZFW has confirmed Fashion One’s attendance; ensuring that designers who show on the NZFW catwalk this year are seen by a global audience of millions.
Broadcasting 24/7, in 156 countries throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, North, Central and South America and the Caribbean, Fashion One is a cutting-edge, global lifestyle and entertainment TV network, with a reach of over 100 million worldwide.
NZFW Managing Director Dame Pieter Stewart DNZM says that Fashion One’s attendance at this year’s event is very positive news for our local fashion industry and economy.
“Through running NZFW, I am able to keep a broad perspective of the local and international fashion industry. The past few years have not been kind to retail fashion anywhere and engaging international media and buyers to travel long distances to attend NZFW remains a challenge, but there is always an appetite for new, cutting edge fashion from around the globe.
“Fashion One, with its fresh and fast paced schedule of programming is the perfect environment to showcase our designers and through Fashion One we will deliver them to a global audience, including important international media and buyers,” said Stewart.
Fashion One will cover every designer at the trade event, and the yet to be announced presenter will interview designers and get behind the scenes at shows throughout the week. Fashion One’s New Zealand Experience including catwalk footage will be cut into a half hour New Zealand Fashion Week Special, to be broadcast across the network.
In addition, any designers that stand out will see their footage join the regular Fashion One schedule, showcasing the hottest catwalk footage from around the globe.
Fashion One’s programming focuses on the synergy between lifestyle, travel, entertainment, film and fashion. The network covers the very latest fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle news, profiles of A-list celebrities, luxury brands, holiday destinations and red carpet events. It also delivers a line-up of original programming from reality shows and documentaries, to beauty tips and street styling.
With Fashion One’s coverage extending to include Auckland as a destination, NZFW has partnered with event sponsor ATEED (Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development) to ensure Fashion One will enjoy the best Auckland experience while they are here.
ATEED Manager Destination Rachael Carroll says this is a great opportunity to showcase Auckland in the best possible light to Fashion One’s global audience.
“Through the show we’ll highlight different Auckland locations away from the catwalk, which will deliver invaluable exposure for our world-class destination,” she says.
NZFW is looking forward to announcing more international media and buyers over the next few weeks, delivering a schedule that will leave no doubt how important showing at NZFW this year will be for kiwi designers.
