American fans of the widely celebrated English singer-songwriter David Bowie are up for a surprise as an international touring exhibit, which features the legendary musician’s stage costumes and other belongings, is heading to Chicago.

Originally organized by London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, the international retrospective multimedia exhibition is going to make its only U.S. stop at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art from September 2014 to January 2015.

Titled as ‘David Bowie Is’, the touring exhibit will display more than 300 items, such as original stage attires, handwritten lyrics, album artwork, set designs and performance materials, belong to the 66-year-old London-based singer.

The expansive exhibit collection of stage costumes will include the Freddie Burretti-designed attires from the Ziggy Stardust tour (1972), Kansai Yamamoto created outfits from the Aladdin Sane tour (1973) and the popular Bowie and Alexander McQueen’s collaborative Union Jack coat for the Earthling magazine cover (1997).

Before reaching Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art next year, the exhibit will make small halts at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto and the Museum of Image and Sound in Sao Paulo.
