Award winning designer starts online fashion academy

Many young women and men are attracted to the field of fashion design, which is portrayed as glamorous, and increasing in popularity from television shows like Project Runway. Students who invest in Fashion Portfolio Academy program on site, will become acquainted with the day to day demands of the profession. They have the opportunity to try their hands at sketching , designing, and perfect their skills to gain a head start.

In an interview with the founder, Francisca declared that "being a fashion designer has been a career that has exceeded my expectations," she continued saying, "Because of fashion I have been able to travel all around the world, from Hong Kong to Paris" and "I now continue to travel and have my own fashion line, Bhava."

However, she freely admits that fashion is not the perfect career for everyone. "It takes hard work and perseverance." She explains further that some specific skills include "The ability to clearly communicate ideas through sketches and training your eye for a good sense of color."

Francisca concludes "My course lets everyone go through every step of the design process, and by the end the students have a pretty clear idea if they want to pursue a fashion design career or not."

Francisca Pineda is an award winning fashion designer with over 15 years of experience designing apparel and accessories for New York's top brands. She is currently the creative director for luxury accessory brand BHAVA. An advocate for ethical practices in the industry, she started the Ethical Fashion Academy in 2012, a community focused initiative that organizes eco-fashion events in New York City and a yearly hands-on Fashion Workshop in Costa Rica.
