WGSN to honour fashion and designing brilliance in Oct'13

WGSN, the global leader in fashion trend forecasting, is again set to honour global fashion and designing talent through WGSN Global Fashion Awards scheduled to take place at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London on October 30, 2013.

Without restricting to a particular region or a market segment, WGSN stretches to recognize and honour fashion and designing brilliance from all segments right from luxury market to mass-market, from across the globe. With categories from apparel design to e-commerce innovation, the WGSN Global Fashion Awards recognise and reward innovation on a global scale.

Besides others, there is also a category titled the ‘Future Designers Award’ that recognizes and honours works of emerging designers and fashion and designing students. Invista, one of the world’s largest integrated producers of polymers and fibres and owner of Lycra brand, has teamed up with the WGSN Global Fashion Awards to present award in this category.

The winner in this category this year would get a chance to work with expert mentors at Invista and US $20,000 worth of consultancy and fabrics with Lycra fiber to help with the development of a collection to help kick start their careers.

Shortlisted participants for this year’s Lycra Future Designer Award include Alison Vincent, Eva Lai, Irina Lazova and Lucy Gardner from UK; Hanna Lucatelli from Brazil; Han Zhongshu, Chow Bohan and Shixuan Zhao, from China; Alejandra Perdomo and Daniela Larrea from Colombia; Himani Harish from India; Silvia Silvia from Singapore ; and Patty Clariza, from the United States.

British Fashion Designer Giles Deacon, Saks Fifth Avenue Fashion Director Eric Jennings, and Celebrated Fashion Photographer Rankin are some of the well known names included in the panel of 50 judges to judge the fifth WGSN Global Fashion Awards.
