Romantic island of Mauritius inspires Ranna Gill at LFW

Bringing onto the ramp the many wonderful colours of the beautiful island, Ranna, making her debut at Lakmé Fashion Week, used them to highlight her special couture line with splashes of swimwear in resort colours, which gave a new direction to fashion. From the multi hues of the island’s landscape, the shades of water, palms, sunny beaches and the dazzling sun; the resort wear line moved effortlessly from dawn to dusk.

Using lace and tulle for the first time, the designer added, crepe, chiffon, georgette, silk with exotic prints to highlight the long maxis, easy comfort wear and dramatic formal offerings. Colours ranged from peach, golden yellow to azure blue and balmy green and then onto pristine white and cobalt blue.

The prints reflected the beauty of the island with fauna, flora and landscapes appearing on the sexy swimwear, blouses and tunics. The kaftans were ideal for lazing on the beach or making an impression at the sea-side barbecue. Kerchief hemlines for dresses created great comfort wear, asymmetric halters, cute boleros, slinky shifts and sheaths made delightful fashion statements.

Micro shorts and hot pants with simple tops were easy beach wear alternatives. Embellishments came in the form of crafts of Mauritius with thread as well as glittering silver and gold zari as placement embroidery on yokes, sides of garments, sleeves as well as all over. The final gowns, at times slim and sexy or with a hint of flare, were the perfect choice, should the lady want to resemble a sea goddess.

Making a stylish show stopping entry was the lovely star, Yami Gautam from the hit film “Vicky Donor” who looked absolutely gorgeous in a pristine white gown luxuriously covered with silver embroidery.

Mauritius Tourism presented the perfect garments which were stylishly dreamt up by Ranna Gill that will be appreciated globally by women on the move.
