Payal Khandwala eclectic line creates fine balance at LFW

Bringing a sense of unconventional creativity for her line of garments, the collection worked around strong colours of rust, royal purple, maroon, electric blue, sun yellow, pure white, olive, brown and black.

Detailing came in the form of minute machining for collars and belts. Fluid trousers were visible under high slit maxis and long smocks with contrast stand-up machined collars that made a Zen like impact.

A stylish shirt-waister dress skimmed the floor with flap pockets and leather belt. An origami white wrap skirt looked refreshing with arc collar top, while a lungi skirt and the flared kedia inspired blouse was colour blocked perfectly. Skinny sleeve straps gave an interesting touch to the otherwise basic shirts while tucks added restrained volume to layered skirts.

Wrap palazzos were teamed with skirt and shirt, the voluminous pleated jumpsuit, the asymmetric waistcoat, kurta dress, slit poncho and loop neck kurta with lungi pants all had Payal Khandwala’s perfectly identifiable designer touches.

Adding a line of colour blocked, exclusively hand-woven saris for the first time, Payal ensured that they maintained her styling aesthetics by teaming them with loose blouses or shirts instead of the conventional cholis.

The sole accessory was the strong leather Obe belts or wrap-around thin versions, which were even added to the saris and most of the garments.

With her fabric base restricted to rich silks and cottons to add elegance, Payal’s collection was an exquisite offering of garments that will thrill women who aim at creating their personal style statement.

Acquiring a fine balance in a wardrobe can be a little difficult at times, but when it is Payal Khandwala’s line, then a lady can expect only admiring glances and compliments for her sartorial preferences.
