China's Urumqi to host Silk Fashion Festival in Sept'13

The Chinese autonomous region of Xinjiang Uygur is all set to host the second edition of the ASEM Silk Fashion Festival in the capital city of Urumqi.

The silk fashion festival which attracts over a thousand domestic and international textile as well as apparel trade enterprises from China will be held from September 7 to 11, 2013, reports Xinhua News Agency.

The festival is being organized by State Ministry of Industry, China’s Textile Industry Association and the People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur.

According to the festival organizing committee, the second ASEM festival would have the theme ‘Colorful Ethnic Fashion’ and would conduct in total nine events, including the ‘Eurasian Silk Clothing and Accessories Fair’.

During the festival, the ‘Eurasian Fashion Week’ will also be held where designers from various countries including, Russia, Turkey and Spain are invited to showcase their collections.

The ASEM silk fashion festival aims to accelerate the development of the local garment industry, and promote domestic clothing brands.
