After dazzling visitors with its sumptuous collection of classic bridal gowns from the 1850s to 1950s era, the second instalment of the expansive wedding exhibit ‘I Do! I Do! Pasadena Ties the Knot’ is on display at Pasadena Museum of History, California.

Aiming to highlight the tremendous growth of today’s bridal industry, which is currently worth US$ 70 billion, the exhibition is featuring more than 30 wedding gowns belonging to 1950s to present times.

With a primary focus in defining the variation of styles that came with every passing decade, the event features bridal ensembles designed by the likes of Carolina Herrera, Monique Lhuillier, Alexander McQueen, Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang.

Scheduled to run through November 3, 2013, the displayed wedding pieces include 1950’s military style synthetic fabric made gowns, 1970’s mini bridalwear dresses and the heavily embellished big sleeve gowns from the 1980s.

The first part of the ‘I Do! I Do! Pasadena Ties the Knot’ exhibition displayed a reproduction of a bridal gown worn by Princess Marina at her marriage to Prince George, Duke of Kent in 1943. The ensemble featured an orange blossom crowned dress teamed with a net cap and a veil falling half-way down the back.
