Hillary Swank to honour Michael Kors with FIT award

The famous Academy Award winning American actress Hillary Swank is going to present this year’s Couture Council Award to the 54-year-old New York-based fashion designer Michael Kors for his exemplary contribution to fashion industry.

Organized by the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York, the benefit luncheon event will honour the designer, known for his avant-garde women’s sportswear designs, in the Artistry of Fashion category.

Scheduled to take place on September 4, 2013 at New York City’s Lincoln Centre, the event will be attended by a bevy of high-profile guests, including the likes of Anna Wintour (editor-in-chief of American Vogue), designer Reem Acra and models Iman Abdulmajid and Patti Hansen.

An alumnus of FIT, Kors has dressed many international A-listers like Jennifer Lopez, Rachel McAdams, Elissa, Heidi Klum, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michelle Obama.

The Couture Council is a membership group dedicated to support The Museum, a specialized museum of fashion, at FIT. The group helps in organizing exhibitions and other fundraising events at the museum.

Founded in 1944, the Fashion Institute of Technology is one of the top five fashion schools in the world which offers fashion industry-related specialized courses in art, business, design and technology.
