Alongside Custo Barcelona, a regular on the official programme since 1997, DelPozo will make its second appearance and Desigual its debut. Pedro del Hierro also joins the event with a special presentation.

New York confirms its place as a strategic showcase for Spanish fashion brands, with Spanish design gaining ground at the forthcoming edition of New York Fashion Week.

The first to kick off will be Desigual, which makes its New York Fashion Week debut on Thursday 5 September at 3 p.m. The brand will be presenting its Spring-Summer 2014 collection ‘For Everybody Sex Fun & Love’ and outfits from its line Desigual designed by Monsieur C. Lacroix.

The show coincides with the opening of a new shop at number 530 on legendary Fifth Avenue. This is its 15th shop in the USA, where it has more than 1,200 points of sale, as well as shop-in-shops in Bloomingdales.

Custo Barcelona, whose major international market is the USA, has not missed its date with the New York catwalk in 16 years. On 8 September at 3 p.m., also at the Lincoln Center Theater, the brand will unveil its full collection, true to its legendary graphics and innovative use of colour, of which we had a sneak preview at 080 Barcelona Fashion.

At 11 a.m., also on 8 September, there will be chance to discover the latest collection from DelPozo, which makes its second appearance at NYFW, although the venue has not yet been revealed.

Under the impetus of new creative director, Josep Font, the brand made the leap to the Big Apple in February, with a show at the legendary Canoe Studio. The USA is one of the cornerstones in the growth plans of the revamped brand which has announced that in November it will be opening its first shop in Miami.

Another brand on the ‘independent’ schedule at New York Fashion Week is Pedro del Hierro. Having presented the Autumn-Winter 2013/14 collection of its ‘Pedro del Hierro Madrid’ line in the Spanish capital in April – the first fruit of this new stage in the creative approach of the brand now led by the widely-recognised designer Carmen March – the Cortefiel group label is going for a more global approach.

According to company sources, on 7 September, it will unveil its Spring-Summer 2014 collection, not on the catwalk, but with a “very special presentation” about which it has so far given no further details.
