New Zealand designers showcase on day-4 of fashion week

Fashion label My Boyfriend’s Back, owned by Masterton-based designer Danielle Burkhart, kicked off the fourth day of the ongoing 13th Kiwi sartorial saga New Zealand Fashion Week.

Staged as part of the New Zealand Fashion Designer showcase, the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2014 collection titled ‘She’s in Bloom’ reflected the dark brooding side of romance through velvet, wool, silk and rose printed sheer fabric creations.

Based on a soft yet deep palette of navy, red, camel beige, onyx, slate and white, the smartly draped and layered range included oversized boyfriend capes, jackets and lacy maxi-dresses.

Wellington label Millicent, from designer Paula Shepherd, featured its latest ‘Blur and Focus’ line. A balanced mixture of textures, forms and fabrics, the metal embellished ensembles were made from wool, linen, silk, cotton and leather.

The stand-out pieces from the carefully detailed collection were comfy relaxed jerseys, skinny cigarette pants and thigh-high slit knitted dress decorated with floral prints.

Designer Sheryl May’s range ‘Reign Falls’ was heavily inspired from the streets of London. Infused with an abundance of tartan, floral and avian owl prints, the line showcased skinny trousers, long-line tunics and embellished body-con dresses.
