The fashion-show programme and the numerous related events were introduced by the Mayor of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia, the President of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Mario Boselli and the City Councillor for Fashion and Design, Cristina Tajani: 74 fashion shows (of which 7 double shows and a collective show for two brands), 69 presentations for 63 brands, 15 presentations by appointment for 15 brands, for a total of 146 collections.
Prestigious events complement the Milano Moda Donna fashion-show calendar. Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana is to welcome international fashion professionals with a Welcome Brunch on the first day of the week. On Saturday September 21st, from 8.30 PM, the historical Palazzo Morando will host the opening night of the Exhibition “Hat-ology Anna Piaggi and her hats”, together with the exhibition “Valentina Cortese: a style”, a star narrated through her precious wardrobe, that will be on display until November 10th.
The Closing Cocktail of September 23rd at Palazzo Reale will bid arrivederci to the fashion professionals until the next Milano Fashion Week. While all citizens and fashion lovers will be able to participate in the closing event at the Palazzina Liberty which, on this occasion, from 9.00 PM until late at night, will host “Tango and Fashion, a great passion!”, the show starring Roberto Herrera, one of the most celebrated tangueros in the world, who will turn the venue into a proper milonga.
The pulsating heart of Milano Moda Donna is the FASHION HUB: Palazzo Giureconsulti, the services centre and event headquarters, the magnificent Palazzo Clerici (with two fashion-show halls), the prestigious Palazzo della Ragione (with its big fashion show hall) and finally, the new venue of this Milano Fashion Week edition: Palazzo Reale, where young talents will make themselves known, confirming the constant support given to young fashion designers by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and the Municipality of Milan.
Furthermore, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana will renew its support of the young promises of Made in Italy with a series of dedicated events. N.U.De. – New Upcoming Designers will be on the catwalk of the fashion-show hall at Palazzo della Ragione on September 23rd at 2.30 PM before a prestigious parterre of international buyers and journalists.
Inside Palazzo Giureconsulti, one will find the Temporary Showroom, a space devoted to the static presentation of the oufits by the young fashion designers who have been selected by the most important fashion contests, and, during the whole week, in the prestigious Mercedes Vip Lounge emerging designers will display their collections that are also going to be shown every day on via Mercanti, creating an event open to the public.
Besides, on September 20th the Fashion Hub of Palazzo Giureconsulti will host the workshop, “Talent Day 2013: making the most of personal excellence between competence and self- entrepreneurship” developed in collaboration with Adecco Training for young people who wish to work in the fashion business.
