The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is pleased to announce that Grammy Award–winning artist Sting will perform at the 2013 Art+Film Gala honoring artist David Hockney and filmmaker Martin Scorsese. Co-chaired by LACMA Trustee Eva Chow and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, this memorable evening will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2013.

The 2013 Art+Film Gala also celebrates LACMA’s collaboration with The Film Foundation and The Annenberg Foundation, in support of the restoration of four films by French filmmaker Agnès Varda: Uncle Yanco (1967), Black Panthers (1968), LIONS LOVE (…AND LIES) (1969), and Mur Murs (1981), all of which will subsequently enter LACMA’s permanent collection.

About Sting
Composer, singer, actor, author, and activist - Sting was born in Newcastle, England, before moving to London in 1977 to form The Police with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers. The band released five studio albums, earned six Grammy Awards and two BRIT Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.

Since 1985, Sting has evolved into one of the world’s most distinctive solo artists. His fourteenth solo album, The Last Ship,will be released September 24 and is inspired by his forthcoming play of the same name, to be staged on Broadway in 2014. The play draws upon his childhood memories of the shipbuilding community of Wallsend in the North East ofEngland, where he was born and raised.
