The vast blue ocean and its living creatures played muse to the popular Japanese clothing label Kenzo’s latest collection, which opened the sixth day of Paris Fashion Week.

Designed under the guidance of the brand’s joint-creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, the wave, water drop and fish print range displayed sleeveless cotton tops, mini dresses, embroidered skirts, blue pant suits and sweatshirts featuring slogans like ‘No Fish, No Nothing’.

French luxury fashion house Celine’s designer Phoebe Philo drew inspiration from the street art and graffiti images shot by French photographer Brassai for her latest line. Enhanced with shimmery geometric accents and elongated silhouettes, the ensembles included asymmetrical black-and-white stripes skirts, oversized swirl print T-shirts, leather tank dresses and curve-accentuating blazers.

Designer Bill Gaytten, from the Gibraltar-born British fashion designer John Galliano’s eponymous line, utilized the Origami fold techniques for his new Spring/Summer 2014 designs. The pieces included billowing dresses, perforated varsity jackets, zippered neoprene coats and cropped pants.

Riccardo Tisci, the Italian-born creative director of Parisian fashion house Givenchy, focused more on drapes and shapes for his fresh ready-to-wear ensembles. Based on an earthy palette of terracotta, bronze and deep red along with occasional specks of vibrant orange and yellow, the line’s twisted, pleated dresses were decorated with prints and sequins.
