Join the Arts of Fashion Foundation for another international gathering filled with inspired thinkers and innovative fashion creations from emerging designers from around the world.

On Thursday, October 24, 2013, the Arts of Fashion will host their 12th annual Symposium at San Francisco’s Bently Reserve (301 Battery Street). With events beginning at 9:00AM, guests will have the opportunity to come and enjoy discussions between members of various areas of the industry leading into the grand finale fashion show for the Premier International Student Competition.

The Arts of Fashion Foundation – a San Francisco-based non-profit organization that is dedicated to the support and encouragement of creative designers, as well as introducing new audiences to their unique work. The Foundation’s educational programs are developed to complement the fashion curriculum of different prestigious institutions worldwide. These programs are all showcased during the Foundation’s annual Symposium.

The main event of this gathering is the Premier International Student Competition. Out of 365 submissions (from 120 schools of 37 countries), an impressive 50 projects, designed around the this year’s theme of Resilience, were chosen to compete for apprenticeship opportunities at prestigious fashion houses (i.e. Anne Valerie Hash, Manish Arora, Nice Collective) and scholarships to the Arts of Fashion summer MasterClass in Paris. This year, the Foundation also added an internship award to the world-renowned Maison Lesage, where a student will be immersed in the world of couture embroidery.

The Foundation will bring the fashion show competition back to the Bently Reserve to showcase over 100 looks on the catwalk. Over the course of the past decade, the Arts of Fashion has developed a reputation for attracting some of the most innovative and imaginative designs that push the boundaries of the conventional fashion world, and attendees will have the chance to view these astounding designs come to life on the runway.

For a deeper dive into the world of fashion, the public is encouraged to purchase the Symposium pass for other events not to be missed. Discussion panels bring professionals from all ends of the industry to cover how creativity can lead to the advancement of the fashion world.

Fashion.edu-Series, organized by Parsons The New School’s Steven Faerm, is a lecture on fashion education and the development of young minds. Tandem-Series attracts industry professionals to speak on their work and experience.

This year the series will host guests from Levi Strauss & Co, RISD, the FIT Museum, and ModeWalk.com. Pass holders also have access to the jury session where a panel of fashion insiders, selected by the Arts of Fashion, will discuss the selected works. Students can also attend the lectures and jury session for a discounted rate.
