Mila Schön was an Italian-born fashion designer. In 1958 she opened her first atelier in Milan. Marella Agnelli, Lee Radziwill, Jackie Kennedy Onassis were amongst her clients which encapsulates the Mila Schön brand of simple, intelligent elegance.

Since 2012, New Antica Group relaunched Mila Schön in the international market.

Mila Schön have confirmed that Italian designer Alessandro De Benedetti will be taking the role of Creative Director for the luxury Milanese house. He started his role this season debuting his first collection for Mila Schön, at the recent SS14 show in Milan this September Fashion Week 2013.

“I’m really excited to be here. The house has a great heritage and it is a great honour to have been appointed creative director” Alessandro De Benedetti carries a deep knowledge of tailoring and skills needed to create great prêt-à-porter garments.

“We are delighted for Alessandro to join the brand. I feel that he understands the fashion world and the heritage of Mila Schön” says Mila Schön Managing Director, Eugenia De Benedetto.

Alessandro de Benedetti debuted his first collection for Mila Schön for the SS14 show. Following his studies in illustration, fashion and art, one of his early career highlights included working in Paris as an assistant for Thierry Mugler’s haute couture atelier, learning and assimilating the creative skills of the maison’s legendary outerwear. Following this, he began to work on his own collection, which debuted on the Milan catwalks in 2002.

His cinematic and highly sartorial style attracted buyers from around the world, from “L’Eclaireur” in Paris to “Bosco dei Ciliegi” in Moscow. In 2007, for his “Gothic western” collection, he worked with the artist Alejandro Jodorowsky, who recognised for his visionary style and sartorial excellence.

In 2009, Alessandro launched his atelier project “De Benedetti Bloodrouge” which featured high-end luxury dresses with inner boning in flexible metal. The fabrics in this collection were created exclusively by Benedetti for the capsule collection, in a triple silk enzyme-washed organza. Each piece of drapery was assembled by hand, sometimes using origami techniques.

More recently, Alessandro worked on a new contemporary tailored collection, based on manual prints on pure materials treated with experimental finishing. This collection achieved a wide distribution in the Far East and on the Russian market, gaining a strong personal rapport with his clients.

He is a designer whose collections tell stories and use the idea of elegance through his own cultural background.

As the newly appointed creative director of Mila Schön, he hopes to combine his modern aesthetic with the heritage of this world renowned fashion house.
