Digital Fashion Week shows live S/S 2014 collections

The just concluded Digital Fashion Week, the world’s first-ever shoppable live streaming fashion event, featured a range of Spring/Summer-2014 creations from a bevy of supremely talented home-grown designers of Singapore and rest of the world.

Designer Thomas Wee harked back to the colourful summers of 1950s for his latest runway presentation. Paying homage to the reigning divas of the 1950s and early 1960s, the resort collection was replete with the fashion talent’s precisely tailored cuts and pleats.

Based on a palette of eye-catching shades, the ensembles included wide-legged cotton brocade shorts, cropped shell tops, culottes, midriff-baring single button shirts with wide cuffed sleeves, high-waisted palazzos, silk shantung cheongsam blouses and zippered knee-length fitted capris, double-faced silk waterfall skirts and full-sleeved v-neck voile tops.

Scottish designer Holly Fulton showcased an easy, breezy 1970s inspired runway presentation with floaty, feminine ethereal pieces. Reflecting a strong graphic style, the pastel hued collection was decorated with appliqué patches as well as watercolour prints of flying cranes, flowers and goldfish.

The ensembles included three-piece pencil skirt suits, flowy shirtdresses, art-deco-square print denim pinafore frocks, sheer collared shirts, sweaters emblazoned with the digit 77, strapless cork dresses and bomber jackets.

Other Singaporean designers like Frederic Sai, Zen Chi, Kae Hana and Mash-Up also showcased their eclectic pieces at the four-day-long on-line event that allows viewers to make instant purchases.
