The Italian Union Chamber of Commerce (UNIONCAMERE) recently held a conference regarding the fashion industry of Italy’s Piedmont region, and presented the results of a study that supports the analysis of fashion trends in the region through a survey conducted on 458 companies of Piedmont operating in the fashion sector.

According to a statement issued by Regions of Italy, the conference titled ‘The Piedmont Fashion Industry between Creativity and Innovation’ was organized by UNIONCAMERE to discuss and investigate the fashion cluster of the region in terms of creativity and luxury.

The survey conducted with the help of Italian research firm STEP and the Silvia Santagata Study Center, responds to the need to carry out an investigation of the strengths and weakness of the fashion industry in Piedmont, with the aim of providing a framework for regional policy information suitable for identifying effective support measures for manufacturing companies operating in the sector.

At the presentation of the survey, Agostino Ghiglia, councilor for Commerce and Crafts of Piedmont region, said investing in research and innovation is a prerequisite for the development of every manufacturing sector.

Changing the business model of firms would enable them a chance to compete and stay in business, and it is necessary for the textile and apparel companies of Piedmont to alter their production and manufacturing techniques to continue to compete with international markets, he added.

UNIONCAMERE president Ferruccio Dardanello presented the results of the survey at the conference held in the capital city of Turin, in Piedmont. Renowned fashion industry experts such as Giuseppe Miroglio, chairman of the Miroglio Group, Michelangelo Pistoletto, director of Fondazione Pistoletto, and Pegi Limone, president of the Association of Author of Fashion in Turin (MAT) were some of the speakers at the conference.
