An exhibition exploring the eclectic and kooky fashion sense and style of late fashion patron, magazine editor and muse of renowned hat designer Philip Treacy, Isabella Blow, has opened at the Somerset House in London, UK.

Titled ‘Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!’ the exhibit divided into six major segments showcases the flamboyant lifestyle defining the fashion icon through more than 100 clothes from her wardrobe. The first segment includes collections from the editor’s wardrobe during her life with her family, showcasing her British aristocratic ancestral roots.

The second segment features creations from designer Alexander McQueen and hat designer as well as headdress maker Philip Treacy, each of whom were inspired by the fashion icon. Pieces from McQueen’s autumn-winter (A/W) collection in 1996, titled ‘Dante’ which he dedicated to Isabella are showcased in the exhibition, whereas Treacy’s  A/W collection during the same year, styled by Blow have also been put on display.

The third segment showcases the icon’s love for English countryside with creations by designers Jeremy Scott, Comme des Garcons, Julien Macdonald, Viktor and Rolf and Undercover, alongside accessories by Philip Treacy and Erik Halley. The fourth segment depicts her most definitive moments in fashion with pieces that she wore during her reign as fashion editor, these include creations from McQueen for Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy, Escada, Teerabul Songvich, Dior, Prada, Jeremy Scott, Benoit Meleard for Jeremy Scott, Viktor and Rolf, John Galliano for Dior and Marni.

The fifth segment features some of the basic accessories that the fashion icon used to don almost regularly, these included Treacy hats and McQueen outfits. The final segment showcases the legacy that the icon left behind her, which displays La Dame Bleue, the spring-summer 2008 Alexander McQueen collection that McQueen and Philip Treacy collaborated on and dedicated to Isabella after her death. The collection was inspired by Isabella and evokes both her legacy and her importance.

The exhibition scheduled to run till March 2, 2014, is a tribute to the late fashion patron who was known famously for her passion for creativity and her risqué sense of style that was an inspiration to numerous artists and designers.
