Bangkok International Fashion Week features nine shows

Around nine catwalk shows, staged over a course of four days, were showcased at the recently concluded edition of Bangkok International Fashion Week 2013.

Leading Thai brands, alongside prominent Asian names, featured their Autumn/Winter 2013 collections at the event, held in one of the biggest shopping centres of Asia, Siam Paragon mall.

Home-grown fashion label Flynow, owned by design duo Somchai Songwattana and Chamnan Pakdeesuk, presented its Gold Label 2014 range, decorated with contemporary and Asian-inspired prints.

Designer Chanachai Jareeyathana’s Fri27Nov brand featured a very Thai-influenced collection Rattanakosin Era, replete with handmade details and distinctive prints, at the event.

Nagara, from Nagara Sambandaraksa, showcased a heavy on prints line, painted by renowned national artist Thawan Duchanee and brand Theatre, operated by Sirichai Daharanont, presented a street wear collection at the soiree.

Internationally acclaimed Indian designer Manish Arora drew inspiration from Nevada’s week-long annual event Burning Man for his latest presentation. The printed line featured images of vast desert landscapes, evening clouds, neon motifs and geometric patterns enriched with his signature Indian sequin embroidery and beading. The ensembles of the collection included mustard coloured pencil skirts, heavily embellished jackets and body-hugging dresses.

Celebrated Malaysian fashion talent Melinda Looi displayed her Lost in the Forest couture line, which was inspired from the poems of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, whereas young Filipino designer John Paras showcased his Angels and Attraction range at the prestigious do.
