Toronto hosts inaugural Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards

The just concluded inaugural edition of Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards (CAFA) recognized and celebrated the outstanding achievements of the country’s home-grown talents in the field of fashion design.
 
Held in the North American nation’s most populous city of Toronto, the ceremony awarded the twin designer brothers Dean and Dan Caten, behind the Milan-based label DSquared2, with the Outstanding Achievement and the International Canadian Designer of the Year titles.
 
The Montreal-based Calgary native Travis Taddeo scooped up the Menswear Designer of the Year trophy and Toronto’s Jeremy Laing bagged the Womenswear Designer of the Year accolade.
 
Affordable apparel brand Joe Fresh founder and creative helm Joe Mimran was handed with the Canadian Style Award, a recognition aimed to honour the contribution towards local fashion industry and culture.
 
Young fashion designer Sarah Stevenson picked up the prize ceremony’s first-ever Emerging Talent Award.
