On January 23th and 24th Creative Room, the Italian ISKO specialized centre for style research and design, hosted the very special Washing Seminar edition entirely dedicated to I-SKOOL, the “talent award” promoted by ISKO and Creative Room and partnered by Lenzing, Denim by Première Vision and MOLESKINE, in which the talented students of some of the European most important fashion design schools will have the opportunity to improve their skills and industrialize their creativity, working together with the leading players of the sector.

Special guests were teachers and tutors from three of the five schools that joined the project: ESMOD Munich, Istanbul Moda Academy and Chelsea College of Art. The other two schools involved in i-SKOOL are the Italian Istituto Marangoni and the London College of Fashion, who had previously experienced the same experience with Creative Room.

During these two-day seminar ISKO and Creative Room – which will lead the operational part of the project by providing students with the most advanced ISKO fabrics and technologies and by helping them to develop a total denim look – offered a detailed overview of all the main stages of the denim supply chain, with visits to some of the most important, high-tech Italian factories for the fashion industry.

At Tonellos participants witnessed the entire production cycle, from machinery engineering to the R&D department where cutting-edge laser, washing and printing machines work in full respect of the environmental standards.

Then they moved to New Line Printed Wearing, a company specialized in textile printing and serigraphy for premium fashion brands, and to Quake, a leading player in automatic embroidery with a really wide range of services, including decorations made with Swarovski crystals and other precious materials.

Last but not least, this brief journey into the excellence of Italian fashion industry had its crowning achievement indeed at Creative Room, where participants experienced the entire, hand-to-tail process of creating a new piece of garment, from paper pattern to the final treatments, and saw the collection of ISKO garments stored in the archive and the great variety of treatments, washing and decorations available.

“Creative Room will play a really significant role for I-SKOOL project”, claims Marco Lucietti, marketing director SANKO/ISKO division. “We’ll provide young designersto- be with all the most advanced technologies and know-how available in the denim sector. With all the support of our partners and of the schools involved, we’re sure it will be an amazing experience”.
