Spanish fashion designer Amaya Arzuaga opened the 59th edition of ongoing Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid with her latest collection of fall-winter 2014 ensembles.

Based on a palette of camel and black colours, the leather heavy womenswear line featured peplums as well as skirts with asymmetrical hems.

Yesteryear’s divas like Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn played as source of inspiration behind the Orense-born designer Roberto Verino’s runway presentation. Made from luxe materials like wool, silk, fur and glace lamb, the late 1950s- and early 1960s-inspired pieces were decorated with innovative prints and intricate embroidery.

Madrid-based talent Miguel Palacio showcased a range of dresses in varied lengths on the same day of the event. Made using crepe, tweed, silk and georgette, the purple, green pine and cayenne coloured ensembles were adorned with geometric motifs and 1970s style florals.

Buenos Aires designer Roberto Toretta harked back to the 60s era for his new leather, silk and crepe made catwalk collection, showcased on the second day of the event. Meant for relaxed yet sophisticated women, the line included skinny or flared cut pants and menswear-inspired jackets as well as short and long tight-fit evening gowns with varying necklines.
