The wealth and potential of Peru, an ancient country, is increasingly present in the United States. New York, the world’s fashion capital, with an annual turnover of 14 billion dollars alone in this economic segment, will host Peru in February thanks to a strategic and inclusive partnership between the private sector, represented by Biz USA - Peru & Americas, and the Peruvian government, through the Commercial Office of Peru in New York - PROMPERÚ.

From this alliance, the organization of Peru Fashion Night in NYC announced a Business Prospecting Mission scheduled for Thursday, February 27th, 2014, at The New Yorker Hotel (481 8th Ave, New York, NY 10001), which is one of the most iconic hotels in the city of skyscrapers, located in Midtown, Manhattan.

The event will consist of a Business Roundtable (from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm) and a Fashion Show (6.00 pm to 10.00 pm), where Peruvian designers such as Jessica Rodriguez, Jenny Duarte, Grethel Gonzales, Andrea Bocchio, Evelyn Brooks and Anthony Rosa from GSEA Fashion Group, all of prominent international careers, will present the finest Fashion collections of Fall/Winter 2014 made from Peruvian Alpaca and Pima Cotton.

This fashion show will pay tribute to alpaca, a ‘flagship product of Peru;’ internationally known as 'The True Treasure of the Incas', for its amazing quality, strength and softness. Its virtues, like its exceptional insulating and thermal properties, have allowed it to enter unique consumer segments and compete with the most prestigious fashion runways and within the demanding European markets, with luxury fibers like cashmere and mohair, considered the finest and most expensive in the world.

Big brands prefer Peruvian alpaca
Famous couture brands like Chanel, Versace, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Burberry, Gianfranco Ferre, Hugo Boss and Prada have highly sought after ready-to-wear made suri alpaca and huacaya Peruvian fiber extracted first from shearing of the animal, which has the highest quality and is known worldwide as "baby alpaca."

For example, at Fashion Week to be held in New York, Miami, London, Madrid and other cities worldwide, prestigious brands include garments based on this Peruvian precious natural fiber in their collections.

Peruvian alpaca inspires ecology by all points of view. Its fine fiber that today marks a trend in the world of high fashion in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America, has up to 23 natural colors - white to black, through shades of gray, fawn and brown - and for a greater color range, the alpaca breeders, processors and spinners continue with fiber preparation, through ancient techniques inherited from the pre-Columbian Tanticamayoc, and dyers of ancient Peru, using natural dyes from leaves, seeds, stems, fruits and the cochinilla, an insect originating in Peru that produces a healthier, more sustainable and ecological natural coloring.
