The ‘Fashion Now: Estonia’ exhibit, going on at the Estonian Design Centre in London, has once again won the best exposition award at the International Fashion Showcase (IFS), held as part of the just concluded London Fashion Week.

The ongoing event, highlighting fashion and accessory collections from four young Estonian designers, including Marit Ilison, Kart Poldmann, Jo Nurm and Silke Sikmann, bagged the title for the second time in a row.

Slated to run through February 23, 2014, the display, which has beaten other participating exhibits from some 27 countries, is inspired from the mystical Nordic spirit of kamoos, meaning cocooning oneself from silent cold wintery weather.

Designer Jo Nurm’s collection features multipurpose outerwear pieces like two-length and double-layered parkas which can be adjusted or removed according to the chill factor in the weather.

Womenswear designer Marit Ilison’s display includes a line of timeless ready-to wear pieces, inspired from conceptual art and experiences gained from perceptions.

Other than the clothing exhibits, the expo also features leather made accessories such as local artisan crafted shoes from Kärt Põldmann and handmade classical men’s footwear by Sille Sikmann.

Jointly organized by the Estonian Design Center and Estonian Embassy in London, the exhibit’s previous edition had won the Emerging Talent Award 2013 at the IFS.

Started in 2012, International Fashion Showcase is a joint project by the British Council and British Fashion Council which serves as a platform to introduce designers from other countries through exhibitions.
