Designer Shehla Khan to unveil S/S line at LFW

Glamour meets stylishness this season as designer Shehla Khan presents her new spring summer collection for Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2014.

Reminiscent of the early 70’s and drawing inspiration from the iconic Ali Macgraw, her collection is a mélange of western and Indian ensembles, each the epitome of elegance and glamour with her standard feminine aesthetic. Voluptuous fabrics with bolder embroideries, this time around embellished exquisitely in silver and gold, Shehla has moved away from her signature pastels and has ventured into deeper and more rich colors perfectly encapsulating the mood of the season.

As Shehla explains, “My inspiration came from the actress Ali Macgraw, a typical American girl with a young and free spirit who suddenly hit super stardom overnight with her films and marriage to Steve Mcqueen. Her original style turned her into a fashion icon overnight with every girl wanting to look like her in the early 70s. Derived from my image of her, I’ve created this collection which is easy to wear, classic, hip but with a twist and over and above everything- glamorous!”

Having merged a mélange of different schools of thought to create an idiosyncratic fashion look, each look in Shehla Khan’s collection has character and depth and screams great style and unparalleled quality.

In the past two years, designer Shehla Khan has become known for her beautifully cut garments, soft supple fabrics, delicate embroideries and feminine aesthetics. Shehla received her formal education in design from the prestigious London College of Fashion, followed with a 1 year course in SNDT, Mumbai and finished with a masters in styling from the Instituto Marangoni in Milan.

Shehla has dressed some of Bollywood’s top fashionistas such as Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Malaika Arora Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Alia Bhatt to name a few. Shehla has a flagship store and studio in Mumbai and also retails at prestigious stores such as Azaa (Mumbai) and Fizaa (Mumbai).
