Lines of latest spring-summer (S/S) 2014 collections, created by a talented mix of some 24 mainstream and upcoming fashion designers as well as retailers, were showcased at the recently concluded sixth edition of Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW).

Held in the port city of Karachi, the opening day of the event featured several western fashion-inspired dresses by designer Aamna Aqeel. Titled as After the Winter, the luxe lace, chiffon and silk made collection displayed striped palazzos, body-hugging dresses and pretty floral print skirts.

Well-known Pakistani designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin presented his heavy on snakeskin resortwear range titled Venom at the soiree. Based on western silhouettes, the ensembles included snake print jumpsuits and several sequin embroidered sweeping dresses.

Inspired from the rich Persian art, designer Nauman Arfeen created his new menswear collection named Haute After Dark. Infused with new cuts and different varieties of fabrics, the clothing range was accompanied by a display of interesting bags and shoes.

Veteran designer Shamaeel Ansari staged a very regal show on the second day of FPW. Based on a cheerful colour palette, the parade’s most standout pieces were jackets, pants, camisoles and coats.

The murals of Oriental royal courts played as the source of inspiration for Lahore-based designer Ali Xeeshan’s catwalk presentation entitled Jalaal. Based on a fluorescent palette of orange, yellow, pink and lush green, the featured ensembles were adorned with embroidery patterns of birds and flowers.
