BAFweek features fashion clothing and leather accessories

Fashion clothing and smart leather accessories for the Autumn/Winter 2014 season were presented at the just concluded Argentinean fashion fest BAFweek, held in the country’s capital city of Buenos Aires.

Designer brand Desiderata’s latest runway collection had a relaxed easy chic vibe. Drawing inspiration from the 1990s minimalistic styles, the featured pieces were a mix of formalwear and casual tomboyish looks.

Replete with sporty accents, abstract prints, zippers and metal embellishments, the line was made using wool, viscose, twill, satin, neoprene, tencel and jacquard. Based on a rich palette of midnight blue, wine, dark red and glossy black, the ensembles were angora sweaters, two tone denims, bomber jackets, bulky coats and tuxedos paired with sneakers.

Fashion label Nous Etudions’ designer Romina Cardillo created two collections for the new range titled NOUS Catharsis. Meant for high-end customers, the first collection included elaborate coats with clean lines, tailored dresses and tops. The range’s second affordable part was directed towards the younger generation with pieces like printed shirts and embroidered tops.

The four-day-long revelry also staged a colourful showcase of exquisite outfits designed by the talents from the seven major regions of the country, including Catamarca.

Emerging design talent Atilio Paez debuted at the Buenos Aires event with the latest line titled Colores de mi tierra (Colors of my land). The six-piece collection included beautiful woollen dresses paired with exotic footwear, created in collaboration with the artisans of Catamarca province.

In addition to the runway shows, the event also conducted the young designers’ Seed UBA BAFWEEK competition which featured collections from two up and coming names, Sofia Sagarías and Manuela Mosquera.
