Accessories brand Mercules launches e-shop for modern bags

Mercules is a brand of accessories 100% handmade in Spain from top quality materials. Its inspiration comes from country rock music and the dusty Old West look.

A graduate from Central Saint Martins, designer Mercedes Gallego created her own brand in Barcelona in summer 2010, after working for brands like John Galliano, Dior, Loewe and Massimo Dutti.

A regular at Paris trade show The Box-Première Classe, Mercules’s main global market is Japan where it sells 80% of its output. It also sells to France, Switzerland, the UK and Italy, and is looking to boost its US position.

In late 2013, Mercules opened an online shop with worldwide delivery, from which its Summer 2014 collection will soon be available, revisiting the ‘wild wild west’, through a pastel palette and a diverse mix of hand-woven Majorcan fabrics.

Its portfolio was recently enlarged to include a collection of candles handcrafted in Barcelona from 100% vegetable wax with names perfectly in keeping with the brand’s image, such as Cactus Grass, Gun Powder and Sun Burst. “Gradually, I aim to introduce new products, both dress and decor”, explains Mercedes Gallego.

To connect manufacturers and suppliers with buying houses and fashion brands, Fibre2fashion.com is coming up with an online fair on Leather “Skin Show 2014” scheduled in Mid March-2014.
