The Payal Singhal Summer 2014 collection inspired by the French Moroccan culture and architecture is an ode to the cultural crossroad of Marrakech and the shapes and the grace of Islamic architecture.

In the early 1900’s the French occupied Morocco and much of the French culture persisted even after Morocco gained independence. The collection references these contrasting cultures in its textures and colors.

The collection done in tulle, linen and silk in muted colors of sand, grey, rose and cerulean blue is a modern interpretation of a bygone era. The intricate patterns of Moroccan filigree work are incorporated in detailed embroidery in beaten silver, gold and salmon “Kora” and graphic prints.

The main show in the collection is the ensemble of silhouettes that now define the new Indian contemporary look that has become a signature of the brand. Simple and clean yet unique and unexpected silhouettes.
