Laura Siegel shows modified textile designs at Toronto FW

New York-based Canadian designer Laura Siegel showcased her signature artistically modified textile designs on the second day of the ongoing semi-annual extravaganza Toronto Fashion Week.

Created in collaboration with Kenyan artists, the London Central Saint Martins’ grad infused hand-painting, embroidery and tie-and-dye methods in her latest creations which included olive green patterned slim-fit pants, knotted side-slit dresses, over-sized leather sleeve woollen coats, asymmetrical sweaters and floppy wide-brimmed hats.

Montreal-based fashion talent Melissa Nepton brought a very glam and upscale feel to her athletic-inspired Fall/Winter 2014 line. Based in a palette of neutral grey, black and white tones, the range was enhanced with shimmering gold and black jacquard detailing. The collection featured quilted sweatshirts, tracksuit-style jackets, jumpsuits and comfy trousers.

Toronto-based designer David Dixon capped off the second day of the World MasterCard Fashion Week with his maiden luxurious wedding fashion range. Replete with powdery pastel pinks and pristine traditional whites, the collection was made from silk organza, chiffon, appliquéd tulle and embroidered French lace and Chantilly lace. The ensembles included fitted dresses, embellished pants, peplum pantsuits, fishtail gowns and Grecian-style one-shouldered sweeping numbers.
