Japanese, foreign designers mesmerise people at MBFW Tokyo

The last two days of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) Tokyo mesmerised people with its avant-garde Fall-Winter 2014/2015 apparel lines created by both Japanese and foreign designers.

London-based designer Johan Ku took inspiration from the Mexican-Spanish dark fantasy film ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ for his intricate patchwork detailed line. Made using lace, satin and iridescent fabrics, the range was based on deeper shades of black, teal and red. The chunkily textured collection included open-knit pullovers, slim textured pants, and thick fur sleeved and hemmed asymmetrical sweaters as well as ponchos.

Fashion label A Degree Fahrenheit’s designer Yu Amatsu showcased a collection of well-cut elegant designs in jet black and subdued tones of minty green, blue, gray and ivory. The displayed ensembles were dresses of varied lengths, belted slim and full skirts, ruffled capes, furry muffs and shirtdresses in both sunset and sunrise hues.

Clothing brand Kidill, from designer Hiroaki Sueyasu, showed a line of streetwear, punched with hunting and animation vibes. The featured pieces were drop crotch wide calf-length shorts, half-sleeve tuxedo-inspired shirts and hoodies, plaid and check pants, double-breasted collarless coats, leather bombers, long slim-fit varsity jackets, and human heart, wolf and chipmunk appliquéd sweaters and T-shirts.

Mongolian designer Ariunaa Suri featured both menswear and womenswear in her range titled Punk Urban. Based on a muted palette of gray, blue, aqua green and black peppered with pops of yellow, the catwalk collection presented slim-fit trousers, raw-edged leather jackets, zippered skirts and shearling pieces with frontal crossover openings.
