The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week got a taste of international fashion as legendary French couturier Emanuel Ungaro visited the event on the afternoon of Day 4. The legendary Ungaro wowed guests at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2014 with his love for Indian crafts, handlooms and colour.

The 81-year old legendary French designer,  who was known as Paris’ ‘prince of prints’ in the 70s, intently explored the main show areas, the stalls, and met eminent people from the fashion fraternity.

“It was a great honour to have legendary French designer Mr. Emanuel Ungaro with us at this season of India’s biggest fashion event, the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. His visit definitely took the fashion week to another level by his sheer humility and love for India.” said Mr. Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI.

“I am really happy to be here in India. I think India is a vibrant country, dripping with colour and vivaciousness.” said Ungaro.

Interestingly, Ungaro, understands what he calls, the ‘liquidity of a sari’ and the innate grace it offers to the wearer; that’s why he says what mesmerizes him about this drape is the movement it offers.

Ungaro, whose designs were noted for being ultra-feminine, sexy and colourful, had opened his own fashion house in Paris in 1965. After working for 40 years in fashion and selling off his company, Ungaro prefers the retired life and the joys it brings.

Fashion Design Council of India: A non-profit organization, the FDCI is the apex fashion council of India. Represented by over 300 designers, the FDCI takes Indian fashion global by promoting the 'business of fashion'.
