The just wrapped up autumn-winter 2014/2015 showcase of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia in Moscow showcased exquisite collections from the country’s seasoned and emerging designers.

Famous Danish author and poet Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale ‘The Little Mermaid’ played as the source of inspiration for designer Daria Bardeeva’s latest collection. Decorated with fish scale patterned sequins, the satin and chiffon made ensembles were based in tones of pearl, blue and khaki.

Alexei and Anna Borodulin, the designer duo behind the Borodulin label, drew inspiration from the Russian traditional costumes for their new range Velement. Mixing the four major elements of a Russian woman’s attire such as shirt, dushegreya (sleeveless vest), sarafan and belt, the line was made from wool, cotton, silk and jersey cloth.

The featured pieces were dresses with folded wide sleeves, mid and floor length skirts, soft basque jackets, woollen chest coverings and vintage-styled lace inset blouses adorned with delicate hand-trimmed prints.
