For the Autumn/Winter 2014 season London-based milliner, Alexandra Harper has sought inspiration from the country in which she resides, Great Britain. Drawing on the traditional colours and styles of the English, the collection offers a truly modern take on period sophistication.
Moving away from last season’s exotic hues, the collection pulls from a black, grey, brown, green and burgundy colour palette. Conversational headpieces bedecked with plumes of feathers sourced from all over the world project showpiece individuality, while an array of signature pillboxes exude Alexandra's trademark style.
A camel hat, complete with a swathe of pheasant-coloured feathers and black netting nod to the conventional hunting attire of the British countryside, while a black crown adorned with ostrich quill spirals and a fur pom-pom personifies the energy, style and wit of young London.
A cap camouflaged in iridescent flecks of green, brown and purple feathers speaks for itself; and a vintage-style headpiece in black and grey Houndstooth, worn on the back of the head, just above the nape, is given a contemporary finish, clinched with a black leather bow.
An assortment of stylised pillboxes perfectly complete the collection – grey felt finished with netting, black embellished with a pearl crust and a green polka dot topped with silk flowers.
Setting up her very first boutique in Islington last year, Alexandra Harper Millinery is quickly becoming a household name amongst London's millinery elite.
