Last night the UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT), hosted an exclusive fashion show at the Houses of Parliament in support of the world renowned platform for fashion graduates, Graduate Fashion Week.

Leading figures in the industry gathered to recognise the future of creative design talent including Hilary Alexander OBE and Fiona Lambert of George at Asda, who were welcomed by Damian Collins MP, Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Fashion and Textiles.

Guests were given an exclusive preview of work from selected graduates across various universities during a fashion show alongside collections specially designed for George, the headline sponsor of Graduate Fashion Week.

UKFT’s involvement in the event for a second year in a row cements their commitment to nurturing young fashion talent, and follows on from a number of other recent initiatives including UKFT Rise. UKFT Rise is a membership network for the UK fashion and textile industry to help people grow and develop professionally. The network provides opportunities to meet regularly, facilitating the sharing of knowledge and inspiration from peers and influential industry figures across the sector.

John Miln, CEO of UKFT said, “We’re thrilled to once again bring together some of fashion’s brightest young design talent with key policy makers at the Houses of Parliament. Graduate Fashion Week is so important to the development of our industry’s young people, and our involvement with this event for a second year in a row reinforces our ongoing support for new and aspiring talent.”

Damian Collins, MP said, “It was wonderful to once again host up and coming new designers at Houses of Parliament along with UKFT in aid of Graduate Fashion Week. People are the lifeblood of this tremendously creative industry and we are committed to working with Graduate Fashion Week and UKFT to provide the guidance and support they need to succeed.”
