Austin Fashion Week highlights new independent designers

The just concluded sixth annual edition of Austin Fashion Week showcased several avant-garde clothing ranges from various independent, emerging and well-known designers.

Held in the US state of Colorado’s small community of Austin, the event saw a wearable collection from the house of TropiCouture. The range included wrapped knit dresses with long flowing straps, floral print tea length frocks, deep blue and gold satin separates, black knit maxis and structured off-shoulder gold baroque peplums.

Young designer label A.gunk showcased a line comprised of open back jewel toned sweatshirts, slim pants, crop tops, leather skirts and brocade jumpsuits with leather epaulettes in shades of deep purple, dusky green and gold.

The up and coming fashion brand Glossy Girls displayed a very youthful girly collection, replete with cute gigantic bows. Some of the standout pieces from the fun-filled line were textured mini dresses and a black sweatshirt, featuring pink kiss print in front and animal print on sleeves.

Swim and beachwear specialist Ofabz showcased a retro-inspired collection of sexy colourful two pieces. The line presented white and deep blue psychedelic feather print bikinis, 1960s style floral and red trim adorned swimwear and mesh one-piece swimsuits.

Lala opted to showcase a range of chic, clean line separates in citron and deep plum hues as well as fuchsia gowns where as Crowned Bird chose to display double breasted mini dresses, gilded polka dot peplum jackets and full skirts at the 10-day-long fashion fest.

The fashion do also showed an edgy yet feminine collection titled Spring Festival from the 13-year-old design prodigy Isabella Rose Taylor as well as childrenwear and womenswear designs from six former Project Runway contestants such as Daniel Esquivel, Korto Momolu, Jeffrey Sebelia, Melissa Fleis, Michelle Lesniak and Mychael Knight.
