After Christian Dior’s glitzy cruise collection launch in New York’s Brooklyn Navy Yard last week, another leading Parisian fashion house Chanel also unveiled its Cruise 2015 collection at an equally extravagant venue.

The French label staged a fascinating catwalk show, featuring an exclusive labour-intensive, incredibly expensive clothing and accessory range, at a man-made island in the Middle Eastern fashion capital of Dubai.

Adorned with Moorish tile patterned embroideries and pearls, the line featured hand-cut leather camellias, highly textured ornate dresses, harem pants, jackets, flowing layered djellabas and some exquisite printed numbers.

Founded in 1909, Chanel releases about six clothing and two accessory collections, created under the guidance of the label’s 80-year-old creative director of German origin Karl Lagerfeld and his assistant and Chanel studio director Virginie Viard, every year.

Dior’s latest cruise collection, designed by its creative head Raf Simons, was comprised of nearly 66 looks, which included sleek black pants, airy skirts, breezy silk tops, feminine lace dresses, architectural jackets and sculpted tweed coats.

Another premium French brand Louis Vuitton, under its newly appointed creative head Nicolas Ghesqiuère, is also gearing up to showcase its resort line at the Cannes Film Festival, which is due to held in Cannes, France, from May 14 to 25, 2014.
