Celebs dazzle at Cannes red carpet in designer dresses

The just consummated 67th edition of annual Cannes International Film Festival was not only a celebration for die-hard movie buffs but also a feast for fashion lovers who had the opportunity to gape at their favourite nattily dressed celebs on the red carpet.

Among those well-dressed celebrities who mesmerised the onlookers with their drop dead gorgeous outfits was the latest young fashion icon and Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o. The ‘12 Years a Slave’ star stole hearts in a shimmering blue Calvin Klein strapless dress with a slashed bodice.

Another Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett turned up the fashion quotient several notches higher by choosing to wear a sophisticated ensemble from the house of Givenchy at the French city event. The Australian actress’ dress featured a multi-hued, bejewelled bodice paired with an elegant pleated black floor-length chiffon skirt.

Famous American actress Uma Thurman flaunted her stylish self by opting for a custom-made psychedelic gown from the Italian label Atelier Versace. The 44-year-old Massachusetts-born star sported a bright canary yellow silk and chiffon made couture number, gathered at the waist with flowing trains.

American actress Blake Lively and her Canadian actor-director husband Ryan Reynolds walked the red carpet in co-ordinated monochrome Gucci outfits. Both the black and white outfits, Lively’s strapless V-shaped gown and Reynolds’ white bow-tie tuxedo suit, made a classy statement at the event.

In addition to the pretty female stars, the festival also saw a slew of male actors giving a tough competition to their female counterparts with their eclectic sartorial choices.

One of those male fashion dazzlers was the famous Canadian actor, director and writer Ryan Gosling whose directorial debut ‘Lost River’ was premiered at the cinematic event. The 33-year-old London-born star grabbed eyeballs in a customized navy blue Gucci tuxedo paired with a white evening shirt.
